The WordPress engine is free, and there are hundreds of commercial templates available (free and paid) that can be customized to your liking. JoomlaThis site engine is built for more full featured websites that need more than a basic setup. It supports much more customizable menus, and the entire look of a site can be literally changed in minutes by turning on and off "modules" that load in specific spots all around your web page. Modules can be turn on and off at the page specific level, giving you a huge amount of control over what is displayed on each page of your site. ThePeatGroup.com is running on Joomla.
Add-ons
Both Joomla and WordPress support several thousand add-ons that add functionality (such as Calendars, sliding tabs and panels, MP3 audio players, an online store, and even the support ticket system we use for our consulting clients).
Templates
Most of our sites start with a pre-made template (usually from a site such as demo.rockettheme.com, www.pixelsparadise.com or another template site) and then the template is modified to the clients liking and all the add-ons are tweaked to match. This allows for a MUCH faster design time, and results in a much more functional site. Starting with a pre-made template allows us to shift more of the focus on setting up the functionality of the site, and not on the actual design. And because we modify the original template, your site won't look just like every other site that might use that same template (in some cases, such as the www.gideons.ca site, the template veers quite a bit off from the original) Other Options
We can also create site designs alone (provided in Fireworks or PSD format) or create traditional HTML based sites (but we'll likely steer you toward a dynamic engine and away from the traditional system).
