To create a song with an image as a background, first drag an image to a cue slot, then drag a song file on top of it. This also works for putting songs over video, but you must set the margins in the song to a line or two tall or you'll end up with NO video showing under the words. NEVER forget the usefullness of Right/Control clicking. There are a ton of useful tools under the hidden pop up menu in this section: Looping, removing empty slots, previewing a slide out of order, duping a slide and adding/removing a transition.
So, we've got our songs, still images and movies in place and we want to start the show. Here's where this program differs a little from others-the show is always on-there's no start button. You can use the arrow buttons to move back and forth through the show, or simply click on the slide you want to display and it will show on screen 2. You CAN use this program with a single screen in a pinch, but it's not a feature that you'll notice right away.
When you click on an image slide, you get what you'd expect: That slide shows up in the preview window and on the display screen. Pretty basic.
Click on a song slide, and you get something more useful. The bins at the bottom of your screen disappear and the current song opens up to show you all the available slides in that song:
You can then click on the verse or chorus slide you want and it will display. If you are using the arrows and you get to the end of the song, the song will close and you'll be back up at the next slide in the cue list. If you want to close the song manually, you can click the aqua arrow below the cue list.
Clicking a movie slide brings up a playback over top of the preview window. You can play stop and change the volume of a clip here.
Click the X icon to close the playback window and get back to the show.
Try as I might, I couldn't find a way listed in the manual to insert a cue between two others, or at the beginning of the list. Got your whole show ready to go and realize you forgot the Welcome slide? Without knowing the trick, you have to use the Replicate command in the pop-up menu, remove the redundant slide, and replace it with the correct one. I found out that if you hold the Command key down (Control on the PC) while you drag onto a current cue, it and all the cues after it will be bumped one slot and your new cue will drop into place. You can also drag a cue into the occupied slot next to it and everything will move one slot over, leaving you a blank cue. I absolutely could not find this in the manual UNTILL I was shown by Susi at Grass Roots. It's there in three places, but I missed it every time I read the manual!
