WORKING WITH MEDIA & BINS

Lets look at the three bins now. Click the Bin button you want, but don't hold the button down long (so its menu doesn't pop open).

The Song Bin

This bin contains text and song files. It can hold tons of files, but it seems to get confusing with too many files spread across 6 columns. From here you can drag a song onto the Cue list to create a slide (more on that later) or you can edit any song or text file. If you control (right click) on a song, you get a short menu:

Choose Edit and you get the Song/Text Editor.

I won't go into detail on editing text in this review, but you have pretty good control over text layout, and using the margin sliders, you can adjust the text all the way down to one line (say, at the top or bottom) which you use to lay OVER video (More on that later).

You can save changes, or save a new song from this window, add tags that let the program now which slide is a verse or chorus, and even insert Bible verses.

Also, hidden under a Right (or Control) click on the TAC tools is the song's Title, Author, Copyright, and CCLI info. While it's nice to add this to the song file, SundayPlus won't show this automatically for you. You must click on one of these tools and insert the info into your song manually. One nice thing Oratorio does for you is place the copyright info and ccli info on the first slide of the song, down in the footer of the slide. It’s a real time saver not to have to add this to the formatting of the slide, only to have to change it later if you reformat the slide.

The Image Bin

This bin contains still images. It can only hold 100 files, but I can't imagine needing access to more than that during a show. From here you can drag an image onto the Cue list to create a slide (more on that later) or remove the image from the bin, or get info about it using the same type of Right/Control click menu that the song Bin uses You can also sort the images.

The Movie Bin

This bin contains video and images. It can only hold 40 files, but again, I can't imagine needing more than that during a show. From here you can drag a clip onto the Cue list to create a movie slide (more on that later). Once you get all your clips into the Movie Bin, you need to prep them. Using the Right/Control click menu you can choose to remove or prep a clip.

Choosing Prep brings up the Video Prep window:

Preping a clip entails deciding which frame to use as a thumbnail just click on the video area of the prep window when you see the frame you want. You can also set the in and out points of the clip here. This is nice if you have a clip with an intro that you really want to skip. There is also a volume setting here.
